The new HiBattery 4020 Series targets the European renewable energy market with scalable capacities starting at 4 kWh. This product marks an expansion of the company’s residential portfolio through new hardware architecture and proprietary artificial intelligence software designed to optimize household power consumption.
The scope of this deployment centres on two primary hardware variants tailored to different residential solar configurations. The HiBattery 4020 X operates as a hybrid system that connects directly to photovoltaic modules via four Maximum Power Point Tracking inputs, supporting up to 4 kW of solar capacity. Concurrently, the AC-coupled HiBattery 4020 AC model is engineered to integrate seamlessly with pre-existing residential solar arrays to add energy storage functionality.
The technology developer, Hoymiles, is responsible for the end-to-end performance and safety profile of the modular units. The units utilize an integrated 2500 W inverter boasting a maximum DC-to-AC conversion efficiency of 96.5%. The company's responsibilities extend to providing a system capable of flexible expansion, allowing homeowners to stack individual battery modules to scale the baseline 4 kWh capacity up to a maximum of 16 kWh.
With regard to integration with the grid and alignment with regulation, the technology is designed to cope with the increasing complexity of European dynamic tariffs. These products have been designed such that they can connect to a grid with a pricing schedule of 15 minutes dynamic price regime, hence making it possible for the storage devices to adjust themselves according to the changing prices of electricity.
The main strength of this product is that it makes it easier for people to change to renewable energy sources. The system reduces the strain on local power grids through the collection of solar energy at times when the Sun is shining and releasing the stored energy at the time of night-time peaks, thus reducing the amount of CO2 emissions usually associated with the operation of fossil fuel-based peak plants. Besides, the equipment acts as an autonomous safeguard, ensuring the functioning of important household devices during power outages.

The equipment is housed within an IP66 rated dust- and waterproof cabinet, along with internal thermal management capabilities, allowing for stable operation within the temperature range of -20°C to 55°C.
The commercial release date of the equipment and overall timeline of its launch have been set by the company itself. All models of the HiBattery 4020 Series are expected to hit the market via official distribution channels across Europe beginning in June 2026. This launch will mark the next stage of development for the company in the European storage market, following on from prior models of plug-in microinverters and batteries that it has released previously.
