The Binzhou project comprises 90 SunGiga 261 kWh C&I energy storage systems totaling 23.49 MWh, deployed by Jinko ESS, a China-based BESS provider and subsidiary of Jinko Solar Co., Ltd. The deployment integrates on-site solar PV generation, electricity loads, and EV charging facilities to establish an integrated “source-grid-load-storage” solution. Under centralized dispatch by a station-level Energy Management System (EMS), the storage systems connect to a Virtual Power Plant platform for demand response and power spot market trading, creating new pathways for C&I energy storage to evolve from standalone cost optimization toward diversified value creation.

The deployment of 90 storage systems places higher demands on coordinated dispatch and long-term operational performance. The SunGiga 261 kWh features an integrated architecture that supports up to 12 units in parallel, working with the station-level EMS to enable centralized management and flexible dispatch of multiple storage units for coordinated source-grid-load-storage operations and participation in diversified energy markets.

To meet the flexibility requirements of demand response and power market trading, the system achieves a maximum PCS conversion efficiency of ≥98.5% and system efficiency of ≥90%, while reducing auxiliary power consumption by 20%. This improvement enhances overall energy conversion efficiency and minimizes own-energy consumption to support efficient operation across diversified market applications.

For long-term and frequent cycling, the system adopts intelligent liquid-cooling technology to maintain a cell temperature difference within 2℃. Its system design life of up to 15 years provides further support for stable, long-term operation.

As electricity market reforms continue to advance, C&I energy storage is evolving from a conventional peak-valley arbitrage tool into an important energy asset connecting customer-side resources with electricity markets.

Duan added that the Binzhou project demonstrates how coordinated dispatch of the 90 storage systems, together with solar PV, electricity loads, and EV charging facilities, can support participation in demand response and power market trading. Jinko ESS says that it will continue to deepen the integration of energy storage products, energy management systems, and evolving market mechanisms for C&I customers.
