Juniper Green Energy commissions 60 MWh merchant BESS in Rajasthan

India-based independent renewable energy power producer, Juniper Green Energy, has commissioned 60 MWh of a 100 MWh merchant Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) at Bikaner in Rajasthan. This is the company’s first operational merchant BESS developed through its subsidiary, Juniper Green Cosmic Private Limited.

The commissioned capacity entered operations on December 24, 2025, following trial completion and approval from the Northern Regional Load Despatch Centre (NRLDC).

According to the company, the remaining 40 MWh capacity is scheduled for commissioning in the near term. On completion, the project will operate as a 100 MWh merchant BESS, participating in peak power arbitrage, grid balancing, and ancillary service markets in India.

Along with the Bikaner project, Juniper Green Energy has installed 400 MWh of BESS at Fatehgarh, Rajasthan. The facility is expected to begin operation in Q1 2026. According to the company, Juniper plans BESS deployment across its ISTS-connected solar projects.

Ankush Malik, CEO of Juniper Green Energy, said the commissioning of the company’s first merchant BESS reflects its execution capabilities and focus on expanding energy storage assets alongside its renewable portfolio to support grid operations.
