PowerX secures 109.7 MWh BESS order for ENEOS project in Japan

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

A 50 MW / 109.7 MWh battery storage facility is planned at ENEOS Group’s Shimizu Oil Terminal in Japan. PowerX will supply 40 Mega Power 2700A units under an order from Daiwa Energy. Construction is scheduled for January 2027, with operations planned within FY 2028.

Japanese battery energy storage manufacturer PowerX, Inc. has received an order from Daiwa Energy Co., Ltd. to supply battery systems for an extra-high voltage energy storage project being developed by ENEOS Power Corporation. The project will be located in Shimizu Ward, Shizuoka City, Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan.

Under the agreement, PowerX will supply 40 units of its Mega Power 2700A grid-scale battery energy storage system (BESS). The order covers a total nominal storage capacity of 109.7 MWh, with a power conditioning system (PCS) output of 50 MW.

The facility will be constructed within the grounds of the ENEOS Group's Shimizu Oil Terminal. Construction is scheduled to begin in January 2027, while commercial operations are planned to commence within FY 2028.

The storage facility will charge and discharge electricity in connection with the power grid in the Chubu area. Its intended role is to help stabilise the balance between electricity supply and demand while supporting further renewable energy expansion in the region.

According to PowerX, the facility's 109.7 MWh nominal storage capacity is equivalent to the daily electricity consumption of approximately 10,300 average Japanese households.

The project will use PowerX's Mega Power 2700A grid-scale battery storage system. Each unit is housed in a 20-foot ISO-standard container and uses lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery technology.

Each container provides a nominal storage capacity of 2,742 kWh and a rated capacity of 2,468 kWh. The systems are produced at PowerX's manufacturing facility in Tamano City, Okayama Prefecture, Japan.

PowerX, headquartered in Tamano City, is led by Director, President and CEO Masahiro Ito. The company develops and manufactures battery energy storage systems in Japan.

The company stated that it intends to continue supplying domestically developed and manufactured BESS to support power grid stabilisation as renewable energy deployment expands.

The order was announced on September 18, 2026. However, PowerX clarified that the revenue associated with the project had already been included in its Signed Orders for FY 2027, as presented in the financial results briefing materials disclosed on August 14, 2026.

The company explained that the press release followed an agreement with the customer regarding public disclosure. Consequently, the announcement date does not necessarily correspond to the timing of the order's financial disclosure requirements.

The project brings together ENEOS Power as the operator, Daiwa Energy as the EPC contractor and PowerX as the battery storage supplier for a new grid-connected facility in Shizuoka City.
