EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Covenergo, a renewable energy services provider, and Delta Capacity, a Swiss-based developer and operator of utility-scale battery storage systems, have partnered to deliver the AKKU One battery energy storage system (BESS) in Lapinlahti, Finland. The standalone project has a capacity of 125 MW / 300 MWh and is now under construction, with commissioning targeted for Q4 2027.
AKKU One was acquired as a ready-to-build (RTB) asset from Helios Nordic Energy. Covenergo holds a majority ownership stake and brings experience in renewable energy development, project finance and long-term asset value creation across its European portfolio.
Delta Capacity will be responsible for securing offtake, construction and long-term asset management as the engineering, procurement and construction management (EPCM) contractor, working closely with Covenergo.
The development represents Delta Capacity's second battery storage project in Finland. It follows the completion of the 70 MW / 160 MWh Ånge BESS in Sweden earlier in 2026, extending the company's battery storage activities across the Nordic region.
A group of technology and engineering companies has been appointed to support the project's construction and future operations.
Sungrow will supply the battery energy storage system under the 1 GWh framework agreement signed with Delta Capacity earlier in 2026. The announcement does not specify the battery chemistry or product model selected for AKKU One.
Rejlers, a Nordic engineering consultancy, will provide technical project support throughout construction. NYAB is responsible for Balance of Plant works, while Ampner will undertake grid connection studies and compliance verification.
GreenPowerMonitor, a DNV company, will supply the energy management and SCADA systems. These systems will enable real-time monitoring and control once the facility becomes operational.
Covenergo CEO František Kalivoda described the partnership and acquisition as an expansion of the company's flexible asset portfolio and Nordic market presence.
Delta Capacity CEO Patrik Hes highlighted the company's experience in delivering battery storage projects and its continued commitment to the Nordic market, referring to its previous Ånge project in Sweden.
Once commissioned, AKKU One will provide flexibility to Finland's electricity system through frequency regulation and balancing services.
These applications will support grid operations as Finland integrates increasing volumes of wind and solar generation. The battery will help address differences between electricity supply and demand by providing storage-based flexibility.
The project combines Covenergo's majority ownership with Delta Capacity's development and asset management responsibilities, supported by specialist contractors covering battery technology, engineering, grid connection and operational control.
Commissioning remains targeted for the fourth quarter of 2027.
