Executive summary

Mecpower Solutions, a solar EPC contractor and power producer from Gujarat, India, has made its Cosmos battery container the centrepiece of its stand at REI Expo 2026 in Greater Noida, India. The liquid-cooled 20-foot unit stores 5.015 MWh and delivers 2.5 MW, and the company is planning a 5 GWh battery assembly plant at Karjan, Gujarat.

Mecpower Solutions is exhibiting at REI Expo 2026 in Hall 10, at Booth B217, at India Expo Mart in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh, India. The Gujarat company builds solar plants as an EPC contractor and owns some of them as an independent power producer, and it is now moving into battery storage; a banner above the stand reads "5 GWh Built for Storage".

A scale model of the company's Cosmos container has been placed in an acrylic case on the stand. According to the datasheet, the full-size unit is housed in a 20-foot enclosure, stores 5,015.96 kWh and delivers 2.5 MW at 1,331.2 V. It is built from twelve clusters of 314 Ah lithium iron phosphate cells, which can be charged and discharged at up to 0.5C.

A liquid-cooling loop keeps the cells at about 25°C, and a three-level BMS monitors them. An aerosol fire-suppression system has been designed to discharge within 14 seconds of a detected fire, and the enclosure is rated IP54, with C4 corrosion protection. The datasheet lists storage power stations, peak shaving and frequency regulation among the container's uses.

In July 2026, Mecpower signed an MoU with the Gujarat government for a 5 GWh battery assembly plant at Karjan, with an investment of about INR 160 crore. The Cosmos container is the product that the company intends to build there, both for its own projects and for other developers.
