PVFARM brings utility-scale BESS design into one platform

The commercial version of RE STACK from PVFARM, a US-based company that develops software for solar and energy storage design, became available on August 12, 2026. The platform is built for utility-scale BESS projects and works with PVFARM's existing software, helping users compare different site layouts before moving to detailed engineering.

Users can prepare project layouts based on manufacturer details for battery containers, PCS or inverter units, transformers and other supporting equipment. Equipment size and spacing requirements from different vendors can also be added, helping teams check which combination suits a particular site.

RE STACK can generate BESS layouts and also helps with road planning and medium-voltage electrical connections. Engineering teams can compare different ways of placing equipment, roads and electrical systems during the early design stage.

More than 80 companies took part in beta testing of RE STACK and RE PILOT. Their feedback covered equipment selection, PCS design, future battery additions, fire-safety access and overall site layout. PVFARM also said 45 organizations joined the RE STACK beta program in less than a month. According to the company, the software can create thousands of layout options with different equipment arrangements, road plans and medium-voltage collection systems.

The platform supports battery containers, PCS equipment and transformers from different manufacturers, along with their size and spacing details. Users can import site boundaries in KMZ and DXF formats. Finished layouts can be exported as DXF files for further engineering work, while PDF summaries can be created for review and team discussions.

RE STACK is mainly intended for large renewable energy developers, engineering companies, independent power producers and EPC contractors working on BESS and solar-plus-storage projects. PVFARM said users can study equipment numbers, land use, road placement, electrical connections and different project layouts before spending more time and resources on detailed engineering.
