Executive summary

Two cooperation agreements will connect CHINT equipment and EPC services with Octopus Energy projects, while a separate framework will assess VPP opportunities in mainland China. The scope includes PV modules, inverters, BESS, transformers, smart meters, cables and EV charging equipment.

CHINT Group, a China-based energy equipment and clean energy company, and Octopus Energy, a UK-based renewable energy and energy technology company, have signed two Memoranda of Cooperation covering renewable energy infrastructure and Virtual Power Plant development. The first agreement brings Astronergy Europe GmbH, CHINT Power Systems Poland Sp. z o.o. and CHINT Solar Poland Spółka z ograniczoną odpowiedzialnością into a framework for collaborating with Octopus Energy on renewable energy projects.

Under this framework, CHINT may provide PV modules, inverters, BESS, transformers, smart meters, cables and EV charging equipment. The company may also undertake EPC services, subject to separate agreements for individual projects. The arrangement combines CHINT's equipment manufacturing and engineering activities with Octopus Energy's renewable project development and energy services operations.

The second memorandum was signed by Chint Anneng Digital Power (Zhejiang) Co., Ltd. and Octopus Energy Group Limited. It covers the assessment of VPP opportunities in mainland China, including distributed energy resource aggregation, demand response and intelligent energy management. The companies also plan to examine business models and pilot projects for digitalised and flexible electricity systems. CHINT Director Chuan Lu said the agreements would extend international cooperation in equipment, engineering and energy infrastructure.

Partnering with CHINT gives us access to both at an incredible scale. From accelerating infrastructure in Europe to pioneering new Virtual Power Plants in China, we're proving that the future of energy is digital, flexible, and green.
