The Hyderabad-based company Trex Energy has announced the commercial availability of its new product called REX BESS 125kW/261kWh that provides a liquid cooled BESS specifically for commercial, industrial and utility applications.
The standalone cabinet contains a 261 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack, as well as embedded AC/DC systems, liquid cooling systems and native energy management systems. As per Trex Energy, this multifunctional system is designed to work efficiently in grid-tied and off-grid settings. It is capable of performing a wide range of functions such as EV charging stations, backup power and smoothing renewable energy sources into local grids.
This commercial rollout lands during a major upswing for India’s energy storage sector, fuelled by a surge in clean energy deployments and state-level policy push. Trex Energy specifically pointed out that the new system aligns with a fresh batch of tariff incentives introduced by the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) to reward companies utilizing localized battery storage.
Engineering-wise, the core architecture leverages an 832 V nominal battery voltage layout that operates across a 728 V to 910 V window, topping out at a maximum DC threshold of 950 V. The unit accommodates up to 125 kW of active input power. In terms of the AC connectivity, the cabinet integrates easily with 400 Vac three-phase systems that operate at 50/60 Hz whether connected to the grid or not.
Taking into account the practical operation, the supplier provided the equipment with an integrated energy management system (EMS), along with 4G telemetry and a 7-inch touchscreen human-machine interface (HMI). Safety hardware is built directly into the cabinet, combining specialized aerosol fire suppression with multi-layered electrical cutoffs. Thermal stability is maintained via dedicated liquid cooling pipes, which actively prevent hot spots to curb ongoing cell degradation.
According to the manufacturer, the hardware handles multiple high-demand tasks, including load shifting, peak shaving, energy arbitrage and utility network assistance. It also acts as an emergency backup supply and pairs smoothly with EV charging stations or green energy storage setups. In order to suit different locations and configurations, users have the option of installing either a 100 kW maximum power point tracking (MPPT) module or a 200 kW static transfer switch (STS).
Designed to be suitable for harsh industrial conditions, the entire device is mounted within a space of less than 1,700 x 1,350 x 2,200 mm and weighs no more than 3,500 kg. Trex Energy enclosed the system in an IP54-certified housing to keep out dust and moisture. This enables the battery to function reliably even when outside ambient temperatures swing anywhere from a freezing -20°C up to a scorching 55°C.
The system is ready for immediate market rollout. To streamline adoption, the company manages the entire project lifecycle, taking care of initial site assessments, full system engineering, installation, final commissioning and long-term maintenance. Operating out of its hubs in Pune, Maharashtra and Hyderabad, Telangana, the company dedicates its engineering focus exclusively to deploying commercial, industrial and utility-scale battery storage solutions.
