Executive Summary

By announcing the upcoming 12 V HUSKY 2e, a 314 Ah lithium iron phosphate battery with about 4 kWh of storage, Big Battery positions it as a lower-cost alternative to the existing 12 V HUSKY 2 INV for recreational vehicles, marine systems and off-grid solar.

BigBattery, a US battery supplier headquartered in Commerce, Texas, has announced the upcoming 12 V HUSKY 2e. The lithium iron phosphate battery is rated at 314 Ah and about 4 kWh is intended for recreational vehicles, camper vans, marine systems and off-grid solar installations. BigBattery describes the product as a lower-cost version of its existing 12 V HUSKY 2 INV.

The reference 12 V HUSKY 2 INV provides 400 Ah and 5.12 kWh and its 12.8 V pack is housed in an IP65-rated enclosure measuring 12.6 × 18.1 × 9.8 inches. BigBattery specifies 250 A of continuous discharge, a 500 A peak for three seconds and a charging current of up to 200 A.

The HUSKY 2 INV includes a battery management system with cell balancing and protection against overcharge, deep discharge, short circuits and extreme temperatures. Its self-heating system supports charging at temperatures down to -20 °C. Bluetooth connectivity enables monitoring through the HUSKY app.

Other HUSKY 2 INV features include CAN bus and RS485 inverter communication, a state-of-charge display and an IP65/NEMA 4X enclosure. BigBattery provides a 12-year warranty and claims 4,000 to more than 6,000 cycles at 80% depth of discharge. The announcement does not confirm that these features or warranty terms will carry over to the HUSKY 2e.

The US battery maker also sells 24 V/200 Ah and 48 V/100 Ah HUSKY 2 INV models, each providing 5.12 kWh. Up to 16 matching units can be connected in parallel for 81.92 kWh of storage.

The HUSKY 2e reduces nominal storage from 5.12 kWh to about 4 kWh. BigBattery has not disclosed its price, release date or full technical specifications. Until those details are published, comparisons beyond capacity and the company’s lower-cost positioning remain provisional.
