A 20 MW/40 MWh battery park in Bydgoszcz, Poland, has been under construction since 8 October 2026, and it is the first that Tavion has begun to build. The Swedish company is to break ground on a second park, in Luboń, within two weeks. Both parks are being financed from the €50 million that it raised in September.

Tavion, a Sweden-based energy company, has put its first battery park into construction. Work on the 20 MW park began on 8 October 2026 in Bydgoszcz, a city in the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship of Poland. That was six months after Tavion had been launched, and the start was made public by the company on 12 October.
The Bydgoszcz park is a two-hour system, in which 20 MW of grid connection is matched by 40 MWh of installed storage. Once it has been completed, it will be connected to the distribution grid of Enea Operator. Esix Polska is the balance of plant contractor, while HyperStrong is serving as the BESS integrator and Ayesa as the owner's engineer, and all four companies were present with Tavion at the site. Bydgoszcz is the first of three parks. The second, in Luboń, also in Poland, is to break ground within two weeks, and a third is to follow it. The money for them has already been secured, since the parks are financed through the €50 million in equity and debt that Tavion raised in September.
The reason why two parks can be started almost together was given by Emad Zand, the CEO of Tavion. "We had land, grid connection and permits in place before the financing closed, which is why we can start two projects at once rather than one after another. Poland needs more flexibility in its grid now, and every month we save on the way to operation counts," he said.
What remains to be done was described by Katarzyna Suchcicka, who is the Chief Development Officer of the company and its Country Head for Poland. "Poland is adding renewables faster than it can store them. These parks will not close that gap, but they are among the first batteries in the country to actually be built. From here it is about delivery: grid connection in 2027, together with Esix Polska and Enea Operator," she said.
The market into which these parks are being built is one of the fastest-growing storage markets in Europe, and yet Poland has almost no grid-connected batteries in operation. The demand for storage there is being driven by a rising share of renewables, by the coal phase-out and by high price volatility. The two parks belong to a portfolio of 184 MW that Tavion has at or close to the ready-to-build stage in Poland, and that portfolio is itself part of a wider project pipeline of 1.7 GW in the country.
Tavion is an energy company that has its office in Stockholm, Sweden. It was represented at the Bydgoszcz site by Emad Zand, by Katarzyna Suchcicka and by Mathieu Beunier, who is its COO.
