Redelfi S.p.A., the Genoa-based parent company of an Italian energy transition infrastructure group, has obtained an Autorizzazione Unica from Italy's Ministry of the Environment and Energy Security, MASE, for a 268 MW BESS at Cumiana in Piedmont. It is the first project in the group's portfolio to complete that authorization process, and it sits inside the Bright Storage S.p.A. pipeline, which is currently undergoing a sale process aimed at generating revenue from authorized projects.
Cumiana lies in northern Italy, the region that carries most of the country's electricity demand and generation. Redelfi says large-scale storage there can add flexibility and stability to the national grid and help integrate renewable output.
Davide Sommariva, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Redelfi S.p.A., said the authorization brings Cumiana to the most advanced stage of development, and that at 268 MW it ranks among the highest-capacity BESS projects authorized by MASE.
Sabina Pinto, CEO and General Manager of Redelfi S.p.A., said the authorization involved technical and managerial expertise applied through a multidisciplinary approach, and credited organic growth, internal business processes and continuing dialogue with the local community.
As part of its agreements with the Municipality of Cumiana, the Redelfi Group has signed a Service Agreement providing financial support to the local community.
Redelfi is listed on the Euronext Growth Milan segment of Borsa Italiana. In fiscal year 2025 the group reported a production value of €27 million (~$31.3 million), a net profit of €5.2 million (~$6 million) and EBITDA of €15.7 million (~$18.2 million). Its pro-forma net financial position is cash negative by €15 million and shareholders' equity stands at €45 million.
