Ignitis Renewables, a subsidiary of AB Ignitis grupė, has made a final investment decision on the Tume BESS in Latvia. The planned project will have a power capacity of 107.2 MW and a storage capacity of 214.5 MWh.
The BESS will be integrated with the 173.6 MW Tume solar farm, which Ignitis Renewables is constructing in Tukums municipality. The two facilities will use the same connection and associated infrastructure to access the power grid.
Ignitis Group plans to begin construction of the storage project in 2026. COD is targeted for 2028, with overall investment estimated at approximately €35 million (~$40.2 million).
The company is also progressing a separate 291 MW BESS portfolio in Lithuania. According to Ignitis Group, the projects will facilitate renewable integration by responding to demand variations, enhancing grid reliability and reducing renewable energy curtailment. The Tume project announcement leaves the Group’s 2026 Adjusted EBITDA guidance unchanged. It also has no effect on the company’s investment guidance for 2026.
