Envision Energy has partnered with Cape Breton China Corp. to develop renewable energy in Sydney, Nova Scotia. The collaboration is planning to develop 300 MW hybrid wind and BESS in Eastern Canada. The project would integrate wind-and-storage net-zero demonstration project in Eastern Canada.
The partnership will focus on combining wind generation with battery storage under an integrated energy system model. According to the companies, the project is being developed as a wind-and-storage demonstration project designed to improve electricity system stability during periods of fluctuating renewable generation and changing power demand.
Envision Energy is a leading global green technology company, headquartered in Shanghai, providing smart wind turbines, energy storage systems and green hydrogen solutions. Founded in 2007 by billionaire entrepreneur Zhang Lei, the company has grown to become the world's top wind turbine manufacturer by order volume and a major global provider of net-zero solutions.
Under the agreement, both the companies will work together on project planning, system optimization and clean energy deployment opportunities in Nova Scotia. As Envision has the capability of generation, storage and integrated energy systems, this project development is expected to improve project bankability while enhancing long-term operational resilience and value creation.
Along with infrastructure development, Envision will also cover local education and training programs related to wind energy and battery storage with local partners. According to the companies, these training programs are intended to prepare workers for jobs to work on future clean energy projects in the region.
The proposed development would combine wind generation with battery storage to help improve grid flexibility in Eastern Canada. Hybrid energy projects like these are becoming more common across North America as power companies add storage systems to help manage renewable electricity output and support cleaner power networks.
