

SINEXCEL has commissioned its first utility-scale battery energy storage project in Japan with a 2 MW/8 MWh installation in Matsusaka, marking its transition to megawatt-scale systems in the country. The project reflects over five years of localized market development and alignment with Japan’s stringent grid standards. Equipped with dual 1,375 kW power conversion systems, the facility is designed to support industrial grid operations through fast-response ancillary services, while demonstrating SINEXCEL’s readiness to scale larger deployments in the Japanese market.

SINEXCEL, a Shenzhen-based energy storage and power-electronics manufacturer, has completed its first 2 MW/8 MWh utility-scale energy storage installation in Matsusaka, Japan. The deployment aligns with Japan’s grid requirements and reflects more than 5 years of localized market development.
According to the company, the Matsusaka project integrates two 1375 kW PCS units to meet Japan’s power-quality and continuity requirements. Once operational, the system delivers peak shaving, frequency regulation, reactive power support, and millisecond-level response for industrial grid operations. The 1375 kW PCS has a documented global deployment history and complies with international safety and grid standards, including certifications in North America, Germany, the UK, Spain, and Poland.
SINEXCEL stated that the Matsusaka project marked its shift from earlier 30 kW and 500 kW systems to megawatt-scale integration in Japan. The company added that more than 50 nationwide deployments have refined engineering methods and control practices to meet Japanese grid requirements.
SINEXCEL supplies technologies for energy storage, EV charging, and power quality applications. Its reported deployments include 12 GW of storage systems, 140,000 EV chargers, and close to 20 million amperes of AHF (Active Harmonic Filter), supported through collaborations with EVE Energy and Schneider Electric.
