Peter Fath, CEO of RCT Solutions, has outlined key developments influencing the global inverter and battery storage market during the TaiyangNews Inverters and Battery Storage Conference 2025. He said that the inverter segment is expanding due to technology upgrades, increasing renewable energy deployment, and supportive policy frameworks. These factors are contributing to higher demand for inverter systems across residential, commercial and industrial, and utility-scale applications.
Fath stated that string inverters account for the largest share of global installations, while microinverters represent the fastest-growing segment. North America as the largest market by installed capacity. Asia-Pacific was cited as the fastest-growing region, supported by increased solar and battery storage deployments. He added that inverters are being applied across a wider range of system sizes and grid configurations, reflecting their expanding role in modern power systems.
Fath emphasized that the inverters as the main interface between PV generation, battery energy storage, and the electricity grid. He said that future systems are expected to adopt integrated architectures combining power electronics, battery management systems, and energy management systems. Such configurations are designed to reduce energy losses and improve efficiency across multiple operating modes. He added that system-level integration supports cost optimization across inverter and storage deployments.
Fath also outlined the importance of optimizing inverter efficiency across all operating conditions, including partial and low-load scenarios commonly observed in hybrid systems.
Peter Fath added that Cybersecurity is emerging as a critical requirement for battery energy storage systems. He said, as control software and EMS platforms become increasingly central to grid operations. He stressed that system control and data management should remain within the host country, supported by locally governed EMS architectures and secure cloud or on-premise control options.
