

FranklinWH Energy Storage Inc. has secured the world’s first full-spectrum TIA-942 certification for a residential energy storage system. The FranklinWH System with aPower battery achieved Rated 1 through Rated 4 compliance, applying data-center-grade reliability standards to residential use and confirming independently verified performance, redundancy, and fault tolerance.

U.S.-based manufacturer of residential energy storage and management systems, FranklinWH Energy Storage Inc., has announced that FranklinWH System with aPower battery storage has obtained the world’s first TIA-942 certification across the full rating spectrum from rated 1 through rated 4 for a residential energy storage system. According to the company, the certification represents the first application of the complete TIA-942 framework to a residential ESS, with rated 4 represents the highest level within the standard’s hierarchy.
TIA-942 is a data center infrastructure standard developed by the Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) and accredited by ANSI. It is widely used to assess reliability and availability in facilities that require continuous power operation. Certification is issued by Enterprise Products Integration, an authorized conformity assessment body for TIA standards. The certification evaluates power infrastructure design, redundancy levels, monitoring systems, fault tolerance, and resiliency.
The FranklinWH System was assessed across all four TIA-942 rated levels. Rated 1 addresses baseline infrastructure capacity, while rated 2 focuses on component-level redundancy. Rated 3 require concurrent maintainability, enabling maintenance activities without service interruption. Rated 4, the highest classification, requires full fault tolerance and tolerance of single points of failure without affecting system availability. Meeting all four rating levels indicates that the FranklinWH System complies with engineering requirements commonly applied to always-on facilities, including data centers, financial exchanges, and telecommunications hubs.
According to the company, the FranklinWH System delivers UPS-grade power quality designed to support household loads during outages or grid instability. The certification confirms that the system’s infrastructure design meets objective reliability and availability criteria defined by TIA-942, based on independent assessment rather than manufacturer claims.
