

Trina Storage has expanded its partnership with Lightshift Energy through a new 1 GWh deployment of grid-scale battery systems across the U.S., using its Elementa 2.0 and 2.5 platforms. The collaboration supports distribution-connected storage, grid stability and load-growth management. It builds on four 2024 Massachusetts projects, where two sites delivered capacity ahead of schedule during a heatwave. Trina Storage continues to provide engineering, EMS integration and commissioning, while Lightshift aims to expand reliable storage aligned with U.S. system needs.

Trina Storage, the energy storage division of Trina Solar, headquartered in China, expanded its partnership with U.S.-based Lightshift Energy through a planned deployment of 1 GWh of grid-scale battery energy storage systems across the United States.
The portfolio uses Trina Storage’s Elementa 2.0 and 2.5 systems. These units are designed for efficient operation, safety features, and steady performance in varied conditions. The installations are designed to support utilities with grid stability, peak-load management and flexible capacity during periods of high demand.
The collaboration aligns with Lightshift Energy’s distribution-connected battery approach for scalable deployment and load-growth management. Both companies noted that the design approach supports repeatable deployment and consistent operational outcomes for utility partners.
Trina Storage and Lightshift previously worked together on four projects in Groton, Holden, and Paxton, Massachusetts, in 2024. During a regional heatwave, two of these sites entered service ahead of schedule and supplyed capacity to local utilities during high demand. According to both companies, the commissioning results were attributed to coordinated planning, on- time equipment delivery, and stable operation throughout the event.
The expanded U.S. portfolio reflects Trina Storage’s ongoing work in project engineering, certification, commissioning, and operational support within the region. The company manages system integration, Energy Management System (EMS) coordination, grid testing, and onsite commissioning through regional teams and partners to streamline execution timelines.
Doug Alderton, Head of Sales, Trina Storage North America, stated that the expanded collaboration builds on earlier deployments projects under challenging conditions. He added that the company expects to continue providing engineering and commissioning support for upcoming deployments across the United States.
