Recurrent Energy, a subsidiary of Canada-based Canadian Solar, has executed the sale of its Gunning Energy Park in Australia to a European infrastructure investment group.
The hybrid project combines a 275 MWdc solar farm with a 120 MW battery energy storage system that connect to the National Electricity Market through a Transgrid transmission line. The facility is located near the township of Gunning in New South Wales and expected to generate electricity to power more than 76,000 homes.
This sale builds on Recurrent Energy’s recent activity in Australia, which has included reaching financial close on the 171 MW Carwarp Energy Park in Victoria under a long-term power purchase agreement, as well as completing the development and divestment of the 100 MW/200 MWh Mannum BESS in South Australia.
CEO of Recurrent Energy, Ismael Guerrero, said the sale of the company’s hybrid solar and battery project in Australia marks an important milestone for its renewable energy portfolio. He added that the project highlights Recurrent Energy’s ability to develop large-scale, innovative clean energy solutions and contributes to Australia’s shift toward a more reliable and low-carbon energy system.
