Trinasolar has secured a contract to supply a 21 MW / 42 MWh battery energy storage system for Estonia’s 45 MW Raba Solar Park, developed by Sunly and Metsagrupp. Using its Elementa 2 platform, the project will become one of the Baltic region’s largest co-located solar-plus-storage assets, with completion targeted for spring 2026.

China-based photovoltaic module and energy solutions provider Trinasolar has signed a contract to supply a 21 MW / 42 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) for the Raba Solar Park in Estonia. The 45 MW Raba solar park, developed by Estonian energy company, Sunly in partnership with Metsagrupp in Põhja-Pärnumaa, has been operating at full capacity for more than a year. The addition of the planned 21 MW / 42 MWh BESS marks one of the largest co-located solar and storage installations in the Baltic region. The facility is expected to be completed in spring 2026.
Under the contract, Trina Storage, the energy storage business unit of Trinasolar, will supply a 21 MW / 42 MWh BESS based on its Elementa 2 platform. The system is designed as a complete AC-coupled solution and includes 12 Elementa 2 battery cabinets, six 4.4 MVA power conversion system units, and an integrated power plant controller. The nameplate energy capacity of the system is 48.88 MWh, with equipment deliveries scheduled for late 2025.
Raba Solar Park integrates Trinasolar’s Vertex PV modules, FixOrigin mounting systems, and Elementa 2 battery storage in a single co-located solar and storage deployment supplied by one integrated provider. As part of the agreement, Trina Storage will also provide a 16-year Long-Term Service Agreement (LTSA) covering preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, and defined performance guarantees. The service scope is structured to support long-term availability and operational consistency of the battery system over its contracted period.
The project represents Trina Storage’s entry into the Estonian battery storage market and adds to its expanding European project portfolio. Prior to this contract, Trina Storage has secured storage projects in Lithuania, Portugal, Germany, Italy, Greece, and Romania. The Raba Solar Park project extends this footprint into the Baltics, a region where utility-scale storage deployments remain limited but are expected to grow alongside renewable generation capacity.
Gonzalo de la Viña, President of Trinasolar Europe and Latin America, said that the expanded collaboration with Sunly includes both solar PV and battery storage delivery, improving the project’s overall economic performance.
