Sunventa Power Private Limited, a direct subsidiary of a public-listed solar module manufacturer and EPC provider Sahaj Solar Limited, has announced a major operational shift. The company has altered its main business objective, moving away from rooftop solar project development in Uttar Pradesh to focus on advanced BESS, battery management technologies and e-mobility solutions.

The operational change was approved through a special resolution passed at Sunventa Power’s Annual General Meeting. Moving forward, the company will pursue activities linked to lithium-ion battery energy storage systems across commercial, industrial and specialized mobility applications.

Under the earlier object clause of the company, Sunventa Power focused on the end-to-end execution of grid-connected rooftop solar photovoltaic projects. These installations were planned in the 200 kW to 2,000 kW capacity range under various regulatory models for government and public sector entities, mainly in Uttar Pradesh and elsewhere in India.

The revised clause gives the subsidiary an expanded role in the battery value chain. The firm's permitted activities now include the design, development, manufacturing, assembly, integration, supply and trading of BESS. The company may also operate as a system integrator across the cell-to-container value chain, covering battery cells, modules, pack and containerized storage solutions.

In addition to hardware, research and commercialization of indigenous Battery Management Systems (BMS) have been added to the company's core activities. This vertical includes electronic, electrical, and software technologies aimed at improving the safety, efficiency and reliability of energy storage systems. The revised scope further allows the company to establish research and development centers, manufacturing facilities and service centers in India and overseas.

This alteration also expands the subsidiary’s scope into e-mobility. Sunventa Power can now design, manufacture and supply battery packs, charging infrastructure and related technologies for electric vehicles and mobility platforms. The manufacturer may also provide consulting, repair and maintenance services for energy storage systems.

The company’s stated rationale indicates that the previous object clause did not sufficiently cover the firm's planned activities in advanced energy storage, battery management and e-mobility. In effect, the change aligns the subsidiary’s memorandum with Sahaj Solar’s strategic direction and future expansion plans in clean-energy technologies beyond rooftop solar.

From a global perspective, the updated object clause permits Sunventa Power to import, export, distribute and market energy storage products, components and technologies. The company can collaborate with domestic and international partners for technology transfer, licensing and joint ventures, providing a regulatory basis for future partnerships in the battery and storage sector.

The move comes as India’s clean-energy sector places greater emphasis on storage-backed renewable power, distributed energy systems and electric mobility infrastructure. For Sahaj Solar, the revised object clause gives its subsidiary a formal platform to enter BESS and allied technology segments as the market evolves.
