GEON, an Indian manufacturer of lithium-ion battery pack, also the future technologies division of Kabra Extrusiontechnik Ltd, has commissioned a 10 MW/20 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) in Phalodi, Rajasthan.
The system supports efficient energy management, enhances grid stability, and enables better utilisation of renewable energy, implemented under the requirements of Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Prasaran Nigam Limited (RVPNL).
The scope includes the BESS container, Power Conversion System (PCS), Energy Management System (EMS), Factory Acceptance Testing, and pre-commissioning, all designed, executed, tested, and commissioned in accordance with applicable technical specifications, performance requirements, and project obligations.
Aligning with Rajasthan’s renewable energy initiatives and green energy access framework, the project satisfies Rajasthan Electricity Regulatory Commission’s regulations 2025. Renewable energy generation and demand balance is critical, and the Battery Energy Storage System plays a significant role in balancing the generation and demand. The system is expected to save approximately 100,000 metric tons of CO₂ over its 10–15 year operational lifecycle.
The project, once commissioned successfully in the Phalodi region with 10 MW/20 MWh BESS capacity, will create a more resilient and renewable-ready power ecosystem. Energy storage has a significant role in balancing renewable generation with demand, improving grid stability, and enabling greater use of clean energy.
