NLC India Renewables Ltd (NIRL) has been announced as the successful bidder for a 275 MW/550 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) in Gujarat. Earlier, NLCIR had participated in the tender floated by Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Ltd for setting up an independent BESS in Gujarat under tariff-based competitive bidding.

NLC India, a government-owned mining and power generation enterprise, said on Friday, September 4, that NLC India Renewables Ltd (NIRL), its wholly owned subsidiary, had been announced as the successful bidder for a 275 MW/550 MWh standalone Battery Energy Storage System in Gujarat.
Participating in the tender floated by the Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Ltd (GUVNL), NLC India Renewables bid for standalone battery energy storage capacity under tariff-based competitive bidding.
GUVNL has issued a Letter of Intent (LOI) to NLC India Renewables for the development of the project. The project has a capacity of 275 MW/550 MWh and will be developed in the state of Gujarat.
NLC India was declared the preferred bidder for the Parvathapur Vanadium, Titanium, and Aluminous Laterite Block in Telangana on Friday, June 12. The e-auction was conducted by the Ministry of Mines on June 11, where the state-run miner received the preferred bidder status.
The block is located in the Sangareddy district of Telangana and contains minerals considered strategically important for sectors such as energy storage, defense, aerospace, and advanced manufacturing.
The mineral block marks another step in NLC India's efforts to diversify beyond its traditional lignite mining and power generation businesses into the critical minerals segment, which has become a key focus area under the government's National Critical Mineral Mission.
