Malaysia-based energy storage company BESSASIA has received product recognition from SIRIM QAS International Sdn. Bhd. (SIRIM) for the company's latest BESS product series, underscoring compliance with established safety and quality standards for energy storage technologies in Malaysian market.
The recognition covers the company’s Mobile BESS 60 kW/140 kWh system and the BESS Cabinet product series, which were showcased during the METALTECH & AUTOMEX 2026 held at Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre. The certificate handover ceremony was attended by Malaysia’s Deputy Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry, Sim Tze Tzin.
According to BESSASIA Executive Director Datuk Hisham Hanif Khamis, the company’s BESS technologies are positioned as an alternative to conventional diesel generator systems commonly used in industrial and commercial applications. He stated that replacing diesel-based backup systems with battery storage could help reduce noise and emissions while supporting Malaysia’s decarbonization objectives and its broader net-zero ambitions.
The company’s portfolio includes a portable Mobile BESS rated at 60 kW/140 kWh, a BESS Cabinet system with a capacity of 125 kW/261 kWh aimed at commercial and industrial users and a containerized BESS solution with 5.015 MWh storage capacity designed for large-scale industrial and utility applications.
BESSASIA said the storage systems are designed to provide stable power supply and can operate similarly to a large-scale rechargeable power bank. The systems can be charged through conventional grid connections or integrated with solar PV installations enabling renewable energy utilization and energy shifting capabilities.
The company also highlighted the role of BESS in managing peak electricity demand in manufacturing and industrial facilities. According to Hisham, the systems can automatically respond to spikes in electricity consumption by switching load demand to battery storage helping businesses reduce peak demand charges and stabilize electricity supply for industrial equipment and automation systems. He added that the technology could lower electricity costs by an estimated 20% to 40% depending on operating profiles and usage patterns.
BESSASIA further noted that Malaysia’s year-round solar irradiation and supportive government policies for green technology adoption, including ESG-related initiatives, continue to create favorable conditions for wider deployment of battery energy storage and solar-integrated energy systems across the country.
