

Sunshare has introduced a 2 kWh version of its Glory residential battery, expanding its modular energy storage lineup for balcony solar systems. The system allows flexible stacking up to 10 kWh and supports 2,400 W PV input through AC coupling. Featuring semi-solid battery cells, integrated fire protection and smart energy management, Glory targets improved household energy independence and optimized solar self-consumption.

China-based energy technology company, Sunshare Technology Co., Ltd. has introduced a new 2 kWh version of its Glory residential energy storage system in Munich, Germany. The product expands the company’s modular home battery portfolio designed for plug-in balcony solar systems that are widely used in the German residential market.
The new 2 kWh Glory system increases capacity compared with the earlier 1.5 kWh model and allows flexible expansion through modular stacking. Multiple battery modules can be combined within a single system to achieve up to 10 kWh of total storage capacity, allowing capacity expansion based on household electricity demand. The architecture also allows the integration of both 1.5 kWh and 2 kWh battery units within a single installation.
The glory battery system integrates Sunshare’s proprietary eXtraSolid™ technology and uses automotive-grade semi-solid battery cells developed for residential storage applications. According to the company, the battery enclosure is constructed with a full-metal casing designed to withstand mechanical stress up to 300 kN. An integrated fire-suppression mechanism activates automatically in the event of abnormal temperature conditions. The integrated Battery Management System (BMS) monitors temperature, voltage and current and can detect anomalies up to 72 hours in advance, enabling early warnings and controlled charge-discharge operation.
The new battery supports up to 2,400 W PV input through a plug-and-play AC-coupled configuration. When integrated with a typical 800 W balcony PV installation, the combined PV input can reach 3,200 W. This setup allows households to store excess solar electricity produced during daytime generation and utilize the stored energy later for residential demand.
The battery system provides 1,200 W AC output in off-grid mode and 1,800 W output in grid-connected bypass operation. During grid outages, the battery can continue supplying connected household loads, providing backup power support for essential devices.
According to company, the battery system has been designed for more than 7,000 charge cycles, enabling a projected operational lifespan exceeding 20 years under typical residential usage conditions. Compared with systems with a 15-year lifespan, the extended cycle capability can theoretically increase total system yield by up to 33% over its lifetime.
The Glory system also includes an integrated Energy Management System (EMS) that works with compatible smart meters and smart plugs. Through a mobile application, users can monitor real-time electricity flows and adjust operating modes. The EMS provides three dynamic control modes, enabling the system to automatically store surplus PV electricity or release stored energy when household demand increases.
With the introduction of the 2 kWh expandable Glory system, Sunshare has expanded its modular storage offering targeted at households adopting balcony photovoltaic installations across Germany and other European residential markets.
