China-based HiTHIUM and KNESS Group signed a framework agreement in Warsaw to deploy 2 GWh of battery energy storage in Ukraine over two years. Initial 400 MWh deliveries start in Q1 2026, supporting grid stability, regulation, and backup power as renewable penetration increases across Eastern Europe.

China-based Battery energy storage manufacturer, HiTHIUM has signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement with KNESS Group, an international renewable energy and energy solutions provider, in Warsaw, Poland. The agreement detailed the company’s plans to develop energy storage projects in the Ukraine market, with a total capacity of 2 GWh over the next two years.
The cooperation will cover multiple BESS of varying discharge duration, including 6.25 MWh and 5 MWh configurations; with approximately 400 MWh of storage capacity has been scheduled for initial delivery in Q1 2026. The projects are structured to provide grid regulation, system stability, and backup power as renewable generation levels rise across Eastern Europe.
The partnership builds on prior project-level cooperation between the two companies. During discussions surrounding the agreement, both parties reviewed earlier project outcomes and aligned on forward project planning, technology selection, and delivery execution for the Ukraine market. The framework establishes a structured approach for scaling deployments while addressing local grid conditions and operational requirements.
HiTHIUM highlighted its ∞Power 6.25 MWh battery energy storage system, designed for 2–4-hour applications, noting its integrated system architecture, safety design, operational efficiency, and lifecycle cost characteristics. The company’s global manufacturing footprint and supply capabilities are expected to support delivery schedules and system availability for the planned projects.
KNESS Group’s role includes local market expertise, project development, and integration capabilities within Ukraine. The collaboration is structured to combine HiTHIUM’s energy storage technology and manufacturing capacity with KNESS Group’s regional execution experience.
Sam Wang, sales director of HiTHIUM, said long-duration energy storage is increasingly important for managing higher renewable penetration and maintaining grid reliability in Ukraine. He added that combining HiTHIUM’s capabilities with KNESS’s local expertise supports regional energy storage deployment.
Andrii Khyzhniak, First Deputy General Director of KNESS Group said that the partnership builds on earlier cooperation and supports the expansion of energy storage projects in Ukraine.
