Natural Power has supported Statkraft in delivering the Cushaling wind farm and co-located battery energy storage system in County Offaly, Ireland. The project is now fully energised and operational.
The company said the project combines a 55.8 MW wind farm with a 20 MW four-hour battery storage facility. This is Ireland’s first grid-scale battery of this duration.
Under a project management agreement with Statkraft, Natural Power acted as project manager, site manager, and engineer. It also served as project supervisor design process (PSDP), providing oversight from development through energization.
The company said the project marks a key step forward in integrating renewable generation with long-duration storage. This enhances energy security and grid stability while reducing reliance on fossil fuels.
The Cushaling wind site features 6.2 MW turbines with a tip height of 185 metres. These are the tallest installed on any wind project in Ireland.
Natural Power stated it continues to provide end-to-end services across wind, solar, and energy storage projects in Ireland. The company supports clients from concept through to operation.
