France headquartered Exide Technologies, has introduced Solition Mega Five- a 5MWh Battery Energy Storage System designed for utility-scale and commercial & industrial sectors across Europe.
The Solition Mega Five supports both FTM and behind-the-meter BTM applications to provide reliable performance, safety, and easy expansion. It offers high energy density within a compact 20-foot container, providing efficient use of space. It uses lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery technology with liquid cooling to support stable operation and consistent performance.
Company stated that each cell is inspected using X-ray and CT imaging during production to verify consistency, reliability, and structural integrity, thereby minimizing failure risks and maintenance needs.
Exide also offers a tailor-made Skid solution for the Solition Mega Five, a pre-assembled, transportable unit that houses all essential components - such as inverters, transformers, and medium-voltage switchgear. It enables a faster installation and seamless integration into existing medium-voltage grid infrastructure while simplifying project planning, permitting, and commissioning for large-scale deployments. According to the company, the Solition Mega Five delivers up to 95% efficiency and incorporates triple-layer fault protection validated through more than 300 safety tests.
The inclusion of AI-supported diagnostics assists in predictive maintenance and operational monitoring. The system is suitable for various applications, including grid balancing, self-consumption optimization, microgrids, off-grid energy supply, and energy trading.
Developed and manufactured in Europe, the system comes with strong cybersecurity features. Exide’s proprietary energy management software is developed and maintained in-house, with operational data securely hosted on European servers in compliance with EU regulations.
Malte Schnabel, Product Manager BESS at Exide Technologies, said, “Solition Mega Five represents a major leap in energy storage — combining performance, safety, and smart design in one compact system.”
Tobias Badelt, Sales Director BESS at Exide Technologies, said, “This BESS system meets the latest requirements of utility-scale (incl. co-location) and C&I customers. With short delivery times and strong early demand across Europe, we’re excited to see Solition Mega Five already making an impact.”
