Green Gold Energy (GGE), an Australia-based renewable energy developer and CHINT Green Energy, a China-based renewable energy investment and development company have received approval to connect a 108 MW solar photovoltaic project with up to 440 MWh of battery energy storage in South Australia’s Stuart region.  

The project has received a Clause 5.3.4 letter issued by the Australian Energy Market Operator and ElectraNet Pty Ltd. The letter confirms compliance with Generator Performance Standards for connection to the National Electricity Market. 

Morgan Solar Farm is located on a 622-hectare site within the Mid Murray Council area of South Australia’s Stuart region. The site has access to transmission infrastructure operated by ElectraNet, supporting efficient integration into the state’s electricity network. 

The project is being developed by Green Gold Energy with CHINT Green Energy as the major shareholder. The partnership involves local project development activities along with CHINT Green Energy’s international renewable energy investment and infrastructure portfolio. Morgan Solar Farm is designed to support South Australia’s transition to cleaner, more resilient energy system. 

Once operational, the solar facility is expected to generate approximately 279 GWh of electricity annually. This level of output is sufficient to the average annual electricity consumption of around 50,950 households, based on an average daily consumption of 15 kWh. The battery energy storage system is designed to provide energy shifting, capacity support, and grid response services in accordance with market dispatch and network requirements. 

Morgan Solar Farm is expected to support regional employment during construction and operation and add dispatchable capacity to South Australia’s power system. Green Gold Energy and CHINT Green Energy are continuing engagement with network operators, regulators, local authorities, and other stakeholders as the project progresses toward construction and commissioning. 

The Green Gold Energy reports a portfolio of more than 70 projects across operational, under-construction, and development stages, with a pipeline exceeding 1.3 GW of solar capacity and 3 GWh of battery energy storage systems, alongside ongoing expansion into international markets.
