About 2.29 GWh of storage capacity was commissioned by ACME Solar during the current financial year, taking its operational BESS portfolio to 3.62 GWh across three sites in Rajasthan. The company also completed restoration work at its ACME Suryodaya BESS facility following a localised AC cable fire.

ACME Solar Holdings operates renewable energy projects across solar, wind, energy storage, hybrid power and firm and dispatchable renewable energy segments. The company has a total renewable energy portfolio of 8,070 MW, with projects at different stages of construction and power purchase agreement execution.

The company has operationalised 3.62 GWh of BESS capacity across three project sites in Rajasthan. Around 2.29 GWh of this capacity was commissioned during the current financial year, increasing its operational energy storage portfolio in the state.

The BESS projects are intended to support grid stability and help meet electricity demand during peak hours. They are also designed to support round-the-clock renewable energy supply by storing electricity and making it available when required.

Alongside the capacity update, ACME Solar provided details of its technical root cause analysis following an incident at the ACME Suryodaya BESS facility in Pokhran, Rajasthan. The incident had previously been disclosed on July 17.

The technical analysis identified an electrical short circuit as the cause. The short circuit resulted in a localised fire involving AC cables located between the transformer and the power conversion system (PCS), leading to an equipment shutdown.

According to the company, the fire was contained quickly and did not cause damage to other equipment at the facility. Restoration work has since been completed and the affected facility has been restored. ACME Solar said its on-site teams and technology partners responded during and after the incident.

The latest commissioning increases ACME Solar's operational storage footprint as BESS capacity becomes increasingly integrated with renewable energy projects to manage variable generation, peak-hour demand and grid requirements.
