Energy Strategy
China-based solar manufacturer LONGi Solar, announced its energy storage strategy at a launch event held in London on November 26, 2025. The announcement confirmed the company’s expansion into the global storage market and its shift from a photovoltaic manufacturer to an integrated Solar-Storage-Hydrogen solutions provider.
LONGi introduced the “Stability Triangle” concept at the event, outlining a framework integrating solar generation, energy storage, and hydrogen technology. The company stated that solar functions as the primary energy source, energy storage ensures system stability, and hydrogen enables long-duration balancing.. The model aims to address future power system requirements, particularly in regions with growing levels of variable renewable energy generation.
The company noted that its Heterojunction Interdigitated Back Contact (HIBC) cell efficiency has reached 27.81%. It stated that this progress is combined with its ALK electrolyzer production capacity, which supports the integration of solar, energy storage and hydrogen within one value chain.
Safety architecture
A key part of the announcement was LONGi’s focus on safety as a core requirement for future energy storage deployments. The company highlighted its collaboration with PotisEdge, which has deployed approximately 12 GWh of systems and power-battery solutions over the past decade. PotisEdge uses a safety approach based on intrinsic safety design, active defense layers and early-warning functions supported by its 5S system and BMS/iCCS controls. LONGi noted that these technologies will be included in its new storage platforms to strengthen reliability and limit thermal-related risks.
LONGi also announced the launch of its first Solar-Storage Technology Innovation Center in Europe. The center will offer project consulting, technical training, O&M support, and spare parts services for local customers. The company noted that Europe’s ongoing energy transition and established market structure make it suitable for adopting Solar-Storage-Hydrogen solutions, with early deployments planned in the UK, Germany, Italy, and Spain. The company reported that it will continue evaluating the use of its Solar-Storage-Hydrogen approach in global markets and will work with regional stakeholders to support its application.
