Hoymiles, a China-based energy storage and inverter technology provider, has signed a strategic partnership with TAMCO in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The partnership is intended to support energy storage deployment in the country’s future energy infrastructure. The partnership combines Hoymiles' energy storage technologies with TAMCO's local industrial and engineering experience. Executives from both companies attended the signing ceremony, along with representatives from the Malaysian Investment Development Authority. The agreement is tied to Hoymiles' expansion across Southeast Asian energy storage markets.
The first phase of the collaboration covers local assembly of Hoymiles' AI-empowered 5MWh and 6MWh liquid-cooled utility-scale BESS systems. TAMCO will carry out the assembly at its BR2 facility in Shah Alam. The arrangement links Hoymiles' BESS technologies with TAMCO's engineering and local manufacturing capabilities, intended for utility-scale ESS projects across Malaysia.
Beyond assembly, the partnership covers system integration, testing, commissioning, servicing and long-term maintenance. This gives the collaboration a local delivery and lifecycle support structure for utility-scale storage assets. The release does not identify specific project names, storage project capacities beyond the 5MWh and 6MWh BESS system sizes, or customer names. Financial terms and delivery timelines are also not disclosed.
Wong Jun Pin, Chief Executive Officer of TAMCO Switchgear (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd., said the partnership would expand the systems TAMCO delivers while strengthening engineering expertise and technical capabilities for Malaysia's energy infrastructure. Dr. Zhao Yi, Chief Technology Officer and Vice President of Hoymiles, said TAMCO's engineering expertise and understanding of the local operating environment would help apply Hoymiles' experience in Malaysia. Sherulanuar Abd. Karim, Director of MIDA, said the collaboration showed how international partnerships can strengthen Malaysia's industrial capabilities while supporting the country's clean energy transition.
Malaysia is identified as one of Southeast Asia's fast-growing renewable energy markets and part of Hoymiles' regional energy storage strategy. Hoymiles has also strengthened its local presence through solar-plus-storage projects in recent years. Building on the partnership, Hoymiles and TAMCO plan to work on technology exchange, talent development and localization initiatives. These activities are directed toward Malaysia's energy infrastructure development and long-term energy transition.
