Hoymiles Power Electronics Inc., headquartered in Hangzhou, China, has launched the V2X DC Charger, a bidirectional DC EV charger designed to work with its HiOne All-in-One BESS. The company said the launch extends its home energy ecosystem into electric mobility, allowing solar generation, battery storage, EVs, and the grid to function as a single integrated system.
The V2X DC Charger supports bidirectional charging, enabling an EV to serve as an additional energy resource for the home. Through V2H mode, the charger can provide backup power to a household when the grid is unavailable. Through V2G mode, it allows the EV's battery to participate in peak shaving and virtual power plant (VPP) dispatch programmes. The charger includes an integrated EU MID-certified meter, which Hoymiles said provides accurate energy measurement for monitoring and energy management.
Unlike AC-coupled chargers, which rely on the EV's onboard charger (OBC) to convert AC power to DC, the V2X charger delivers direct DC power from solar panels and battery storage to the vehicle, bypassing the OBC. This eliminates a conversion step and reduces energy losses during charging. With up to 22 kW of DC charging power, the company said the charger can add approximately 110 km of driving range per hour of charging, compared with roughly 35 km per hour for a conventional AC charger. V2X is compatible with 95% of mainstream EV models.
The V2X is designed as a standalone unit that can be installed flexibly, such as beside a parking space, independent of where the HiOne BESS itself is sited. The charger carries an IP65 rating for dust and water resistance and IK10 impact protection, which suits it for outdoor use. It is managed through the same app as Hoymiles' other home energy products, offering a single interface for the full system, with green power and fast charging modes available depending on the use case.
The addition connects solar generation, energy storage, energy management and electric mobility within one ecosystem, to help households generate, store, use, and share energy more intelligently.
