Pylontech, a China-based energy storage cell manufacturer, has taken its 588 Ah and 601 Ah prismatic LFP cells into mass production at its Hefei base. The line started on 21 September 2026. Both cells were developed in house for large-scale storage.

Output has already passed the sample stage. More than 100 MWh of the new cells have been built, which the company offers as evidence that it can make them at scale. On its figures the 601 Ah cell reaches 425.8 Wh/L of energy density, a cycle life of more than 12,000 cycles and energy efficiency of 96.5%.

Capacity at that level changes the shape of a system. Fewer cells and fewer interconnections are needed for the same energy, which the company links to more compact designs, more efficient integration and better lifecycle economics. Both cells are being integrated into its PyOcean systems of 6.25 MWh and 8 MWh, which are set to enter project delivery.

The line behind those numbers is heavily automated. Core production processes at Hefei run without hand work, supported by more than 120 industrial robots and 180 sets of manufacturing equipment. A manufacturing execution system captures production and quality data at every step, which gives end-to-end traceability for each cell.

Delivery experience is what the company sets beside the new cells. It has supplied systems for large projects in China and abroad. Among them are a 120 MW / 240 MWh project in Yangzhou, Jiangsu, a 200 MW / 400 MWh standalone BESS in Ningxia, and work in Europe.
