Trina Storage, the energy storage business unit of Trinasolar, has held discussions with Uzbekistan-based steel producer Uzmetkombinat JSC on the potential use of battery energy storage systems (BESS) across the company’s industrial operations. The discussions followed a visit by an Uzmetkombinat delegation to Trina Storage’s manufacturing base in Chuzhou, China, organized by All Solar, Trinasolar’s module distributor in Uzbekistan.
Uzmetkombinat, based in Bekabad, produces rolled steel, grinding steel balls, ferroalloys and other industrial products. During the visit, its delegation toured Trina Storage’s manufacturing and system integration facilities. The companies discussed how BESS could help optimize electricity loads, reduce peak demand, improve energy efficiency and strengthen power supply stability at energy-intensive industrial facilities.
Trina Storage presented its vertically integrated cell-to-system capabilities, including in-house lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery cells. Its storage platform combines battery management systems, power conversion systems, energy management systems, liquid cooling and fire protection within an integrated architecture.
The delegation was also introduced to Elementa 3, Trina Storage’s latest utility-scale BESS. The system uses the company’s in-house 587 Ah cell and provides up to 6.25 MWh of storage capacity per container. According to Trina Storage, Elementa 3 incorporates millisecond-level early warning, UL94-5VA flammability-rated modules and composite walls designed to provide two hours of fire resistance.
Following the manufacturing base visit, Trina Storage and Uzmetkombinat plan to continue discussions regarding potential battery storage applications within the steel producer’s operations.
Abdullaev Bakhodir Tojimirzaevich, Chairman of the Management Board – General Director of Uzmetkombinat, said the company is continuing to modernize its operations with a focus on energy efficiency, sustainable development and responsible resource use. He identified battery storage as an area the company is interested in exploring to improve energy management and operational reliability while supporting longer-term decarbonization objectives.
The discussions take place as Uzbekistan expands its energy storage ambitions. National plans referenced by Trina Storage call for the country to reach 4.5 GW of storage capacity by 2030, creating a broader role for storage in industrial energy management and the country's evolving power system.
