Through its subsidiary Lineage Power Private Limited, Pace Digitek Limited, an India-based infrastructure and energy company, has established the Pace-Lineage Research Center in Pune. The facility will support research, engineering and product development in Advanced Chemistry Cells and energy storage technologies.
Lineage Power has also entered a research collaboration with the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research, Pune. The partners will conduct research into battery technologies and materials, with the programme covering lithium-ion and sodium-ion battery materials. The work is intended to improve battery capacity and cycling stability.
The research programme will examine material coatings, microstructure, porosity and new electrolyte designs. It will also include material characterisation, electrochemical evaluation and the optimisation of cell parameters. In addition, the center will evaluate and validate raw materials obtained from domestic suppliers for use in battery technology development.
Pace Digitek stated that the facility is intended to expand its research and engineering capabilities, accelerate technology development and build internal expertise across the energy storage value chain. The company also expects the domestic-material validation programme to support local battery supply chains. Venugopal Rao Maddisetty, chairman and managing director of Pace Digitek, said the IISER Pune collaboration would combine scientific research with industry expertise in battery materials.
