Trinasolar, a China-based PV module and energy storage solutions provider, has supplied 3 MW of Vertex N 725 W modules and a 10 MWh Trina Storage Elementa 2 BESS for Corona Resort in Phu Quoc, Vietnam. Nam Viet Green Energy JSC has developed the solar-plus-storage project and is expected to begin commercial operations in mid-September. The equipment expands an existing 5.5 MW PV installation at the resort rather than creating a new standalone solar site.
The expansion adds 3 MW of n-type i-TOPCon Vertex N modules and a 10 MWh AC-coupled Elementa 2 BESS to the existing installation. Trinasolar supplied both the additional PV modules and the BESS.
Corona Resort faces growing electricity demand from its tourism operations. Trinasolar states that combining daytime solar generation with BESS can increase onsite solar utilization, reduce peak electricity demand, enhance energy resilience, and improve operating efficiency for C&I users. The company also links the integrated configuration to energy cost management and additional commercial value.
A representative from Nam Viet Green Energy JSC said that the Trinasolar also advised on the BESS configuration and operating approach. Nam Viet said that input helped the developer align the system with the project's technical and commercial requirements. Elva Wang, Group Director of Southeast, South and Central Asia at Trinasolar Asia Pacific, said solar-plus-storage projects can involve challenges in system planning, integration, and delivery, requiring coordination among technology providers, EPCs, and customers.
Vietnam aims to develop 10-16.3 GW of BESS capacity by 2030. Trinasolar links that target to a growing role for BESS in integrating solar and wind power, improving dispatchability, and strengthening energy security. The Corona Resort installation is presented within that broader solar-plus-storage deployment scenery in Vietnam, and the project is expected to start its commercial operations and grid connection in mid-September.
