HyperStrong Launches 20MWh C&I BESS In Malaysia

HyperStrong has achieved full-capacity grid connection and commercial operation of a 20MWh C&I BESS project in Malaysia with Plus Xnergy. The project uses HyperStrong’s HyperBlock III AC-coupled integrated BESS to reduce peak demand costs, improve energy efficiency and support low-carbon industrial operations.

HyperStrong, a Beijing-based BESS manufacturer, has achieved full-capacity grid connection and commercial operation for its 20-MWh commercial energy storage project in Malaysia. Developed with local partner Plus Xnergy, the system is located at a large-scale grain production industrial park in Malaysia.

The project supports HyperStrong’s overseas business activity and adds a commercial and industrial energy storage reference in Southeast Asia. The storage system has been designed for industrial park operations, where electricity demand can vary across production schedules and grid supply conditions.

The project was led by a local clean energy development company and delivered by Plus Xnergy, a Malaysian clean energy and energy storage EPCC provider. EPCC refers to engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning, covering project design, equipment sourcing, installation, testing and readiness for operation.

Plus Xnergy has delivered over 500 MWp of solar system installation and 100 MWh of completed and ongoing battery energy storage system projects across Malaysia. In the 20 MWh BESS project, Plus Xnergy was involved in engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning and grid integration.

The operating strategy is intended to smooth load fluctuations across the industrial park, reduce Maximum Demand costs, optimize energy use and support power supply stability for production facilities.

Maximum Demand costs are charges linked to the highest level of electricity demand recorded during a billing period. By using stored electricity during peak demand periods, the BESS can help lower demand spikes and improve energy management for the industrial park.

The system uses HyperStrong’s HyperBlock III AC-coupled integrated BESS. AC-coupled energy storage connects battery storage through alternating current infrastructure, allowing the storage system to operate with existing electrical equipment and grid-side connections.

The HyperBlock III solution integrates the DC battery system with the Power Conversion System. The Power Conversion System manages electricity conversion between direct current from batteries and alternating current used by the grid or facilities.

According to project documentation, this fully integrated setup delivers a smaller physical footprint, higher system efficiency, and simplified operations compared to traditional split-component energy storage alternatives. The integrated layout also speeds up on-site installation, wiring and commissioning timelines. HyperStrong said the deployment supports its plan to expand energy storage applications across industrial parks, mining operations and large commercial complexes.

The project team used local cooperation between HyperStrong and Plus Xnergy to address on-site construction challenges. HyperStrong supplied energy storage technology, while Plus Xnergy provided local engineering, project management and commissioning support.

The BESS is expected to generate electricity cost savings over the project life cycle by managing peak electricity use and improving load operation. The system is also intended to reduce energy consumption and lower carbon emissions at the grain production base.

The installation provides a practical reference for energy storage retrofits in grain, edible oil and food processing industrial scenarios in Southeast Asia. The storage configuration can support facilities that require stable electricity supply and more efficient energy use during production.

HyperStrong said the Malaysian project forms part of the company’s global expansion of self-developed integrated BESS products. Plus Xnergy’s delivery role supported commercial operation through local project execution and grid integration.

HyperStrong plans to continue optimizing energy storage solutions and expanding cooperation with local supply chains in overseas markets. The company also plans to use project experience for industrial manufacturing, industrial parks, mining and oilfields and commercial and industrial complexes.
