Contemporary Nebula Technology Energy (CNTE), an energy storage company backed by Contemporary Amperex Technology Co. Limited, has completed the commissioning of a 1.725 MW/4.07 MWh commercial and industrial (C&I) BESS project in Belgium, expanding its presence in the European energy storage market.
The project is located within an industrial park in Belgium and uses CNTE’s containerized STAR-T energy storage system integrated with CATL battery cells. The installation is designed to provide energy management support for industrial operations, including peak shaving, electricity trading and energy optimization functions aimed at improving operational efficiency.
The installation uses CNTE’s integrated STAR-T MAX 4 MWh containerized Energy Storage System (ESS) platform, which is designed with a scalable architecture to support different commercial and industrial applications. The company said localized project support and standardized delivery processes form part of CNTE’s strategy to expand the company's international energy storage deployments.
CNTE said the project reflects wider use of scalable C&I battery storage systems across Europe, particularly for renewable energy support and industrial decarbonization. The company added that the STAR-T platform integrates battery technology, intelligent energy management and safety systems to support reliable industrial operation.
CNTE identified Belgium as a key market in Europe’s energy transition and said the company will continue cooperating with local partners to support regional energy and efficiency programs.
The company also said it will participate in the smarter E Europe 2026 and Intersolar Europe 2026, scheduled for June 23–25 in Munich, where it plans to showcase its latest energy storage technologies.
CNTE is a global company invested in by CATL, focusing on R&D, intelligent manufacturing and delivery of lithium battery energy storage systems globally. Belgium has been a crucial market for CNTE in expanding its commercial and industrial European footprint. This latest 1.725MW/4.07MWh installation follows a history of other regional C&I deployments by the company, including smaller 100kW/232kWh backup and frequency regulation solutions for commercial and manufacturing facilities in Netherlands and Belgium.
This project aligns with Belgium's broader energy transition, where both massive utility-scale battery parks (such as ENGIE's 100MW/400MWh Vilvoorde site) and decentralized C&I systems are heavily expanding to compensate for renewable intermittency, grid congestion and high operational costs.
