ENGIE has secured a 200 MW solar project paired with a 100 MW / 600 MWh battery energy storage system in India through a SECI tender. The six-hour hybrid configuration marks ENGIE’s first solar-plus-storage project in the country, strengthening its growing Indian portfolio and supporting round-the-clock renewable power delivery.

France-based global utility group, ENGIE, has secured 200 MW of solar project paired with 100 MW / 600 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) in India. The project awarded through a national tender issued by the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI). The configuration enables storage of solar generation and power delivery for up to 6 hours.
The project marks company’s first hybrid solar-plus-storage project in India. The award follows ENGIE securing its first standalone BESS project of 280 MW / 560 MWh in November. ENGIE currently has nearly 2 GW of renewable assets in operation and under construction in India and operates 55 GW of renewable and storage assets globally as of end of September 2025, with a target of 95 GW by 2030.
The project will now move into the next phase of development, including engineering, procurement, and regulatory approvals, followed by construction and commissioning in 2028. ENGIE will collaborate with technology partners, suppliers, and authorities to ensure timely and complaint execution.
Paulo Almirante, Senior Executive Vice President for Renewable and Flexible Power at ENGIE said that the project combines large-scale solar generation with long-duration battery storage to support grid reliability and continuous power delivery.
