Richardson Electronics has partnered with Gotion Inc. to supply battery energy storage systems for U.S. commercial, industrial, and utility-scale markets. The partnership will launch a 760 kWh C&I BESS platform and a 5 MWh utility-scale system manufactured in Illinois, supporting projects ranging from onsite storage to multi-hundred-megawatt deployments. The collaboration strengthens domestic battery manufacturing and aligns with growing U.S. demand for grid resilience and energy storage capacity.

Richardson Electronics, Ltd. has entered a technology partnership with Gotion Inc. to supply BESS for U.S. market, focusing on commercial, industrial and utility-scale applications.
The collaboration brings together Richardson Electronics, based in LaFox and Gotion’s battery manufacturing operations in Manteno. The companies said the partnership is intended to address growing demand for battery storage systems across commercial and industrial (C&I) and utility-scale energy projects in United States.
The agreement includes the launch of two battery energy storage platforms. The first is 760 kWh system aimed at C&I applications, while the second is 5 MWh system designed for utility-scale projects. The companies said the systems could support projects ranging from customized C&I installations to utility developments by measuring hundreds of megawatts.
The companies said manufacturing and assembly will be carried out in Manteno, Illinois. They added that the storage systems are built to help customers cut electricity costs, manage energy consumption and support stable power grid.
The agreement coincides with Illinois expanding battery storage projects under the Illinois Climate Resilience and Grid Advancement Program. This program offers rebates of up to $250 per kWh for standalone BESS.
Greg Peloquin, executive vice president and general manager of Richardson Electronics’ Power & Microwave Technologies and Green Energy Solutions groups, said the collaboration combines Gotion’s battery technology with Richardson’s engineering and market support capabilities for the U.S. energy sector.
Under the agreement, Gotion will supply battery technology from its Illinois manufacturing facility, while Richardson Electronics will manage engineering integration, commercialization and market strategy activities.
Jacky Yu, vice president of sales at Gotion Inc., said the partnership is part of the company’s effort to expand localized battery manufacturing and strengthen domestic supply chains for energy storage systems in the United States.
Richardson Electronics and Gotion said the collaboration is also intended to support grid modernization, energy independence and local economic development through expanded U.S.-based manufacturing and deployment of energy storage systems.
