UK-based renewable energy developer and operator, Renewable Energy Systems (RES) has surpassed 3 GW of solar and battery energy storage systems (BESS) portfolio under operations and maintenance (O&M) contracts in Northern Europe. This forms part of a broader portfolio of around 4 GW of renewable energy assets managed under O&M agreements across the region, including the United Kingdom and Ireland, Germany, Poland, Norway and Sweden.

The managed portfolio includes more than 3 GW of solar PV and battery storage capacity alongside 1 GW of wind capacity. According to the company, solar and energy storage projects have accounted for most of the recent expansion as asset owners expand portfolios requiring operational management, technical support and digital monitoring services.

RES currently supports about 3.4 GW of solar and energy storage assets through O&M services in North Europe. Globally, the company provides asset management, O&M services for more than 45 GW of renewable energy capacity spanning wind, solar and battery storage technologies.

The company has also expanded its experience in battery storage asset management. It has delivered BESS asset management services in the United Kingdom since 2018 and is now contracted to provide services for 18 battery storage projects in Northern Europe with a combined installed capacity exceeding 1.5 GW.

RES has expanded its UK solar and BESS portfolio in 2025 from 160 to 242 contracted assets. Over the same period, the total portfolio capacity increased from 1.4 GW to around 3.4 GW.

Recent contract awards in the United Kingdom include a 3-year O&M agreement for the 373 MW Cleve Hill Solar Park, which is currently the largest solar project in the country. The company also secured a new asset management contract for the 500 MW / 1 GWh Coalburn battery storage project, one of the largest battery energy storage systems in Europe. In addition, RES renewed a five-year O&M contract covering 11 solar PV facilities in the UK with a combined capacity of 121 MW for The Renewables Infrastructure Group (TRIG).

The company also reported external recognition of its service operations. RES retained second position in Wood Mackenzie’s global Solar PV O&M ranking and was recognised as Asset Manager of the Year. These results reflect the scale of its service portfolio and operational coverage across multiple renewable energy markets.

Operational services are supported by the company’s digital solutions platform established in 2024. The platform provides remote monitoring, predictive maintenance and performance analytics designed to support operational management, regulatory compliance and long-term asset performance for solar, wind and battery storage facilities.
