Poland-based renewable energy developer, Greenvolt Power has signed a strategic partnership with Reel, a Danish electricity provider and energy trader to optimize the 157 MW Høegholm hybrid solar and battery project in Denmark. The project combines 97.36 MW of solar PV with a 60 MW / 120 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS).

The Høegholm project is being developed and constructed by Greenvolt Power and remains under construction. Commercial operations for the solar PV installation are expected in Q1 2026, followed by the BESS unit in Q4 2026. Once operational, the facility is expected to produce around 97 GWh of clean energy per year, enough to power more than 24,000 Danish households.

Under the agreement, Reel will manage real-time balancing and market optimization and hedging solutions through its proprietary trading platform, managing participation in wholesale, intraday and ancillary service markets as well as structuring Power Purchase Agreements (PPA)

The 60 MW / 120 MWh battery facility has been designed to provide up to 2-hours of storage capacity, enabling participation in ancillary services and frequency regulation markets. By combining generation and storage within a single project structure, the Høegholm site is configured to deliver both energy supply and system support functions.

Anders Engtoft Meldgaard, CCO and Co-founder of Reel, said that hybrid projects combining generation and flexibility represent a growing model within renewable energy systems. He noted that Reel will support the Høegholm project through its optimization platform to manage market participation and operational performance.

Łukasz Zagórski, Energy Management Origination Commercial Director at Greenvolt Power, said the partnership aligns with the company’s strategy to develop renewable energy platforms across Europe through collaboration with specialized partners.

Henri Schuman, Business Development Director for Greenvolt Power in Denmark, said that selecting an optimization partner is important for managing projects with large capacity and technical complexity, noting Reel’s experience in the Danish electricity market and balancing services.
