Swedish Nordic flexibility and grid-tech company, Ingrid and Wattmen, a French energy storage developer, have signed a co-development agreement to deploy 200 MW of battery energy storage systems (BESS) across France. The projects are expected to reach ready-to-build (RTB) status between 2026 and 2027.
Under the partnership, Wattmen provides local energy market expertise and is leading project development activities. Ingrid contributes financing, procurement, construction and operations capabilities, along with asset optimization through its in-house trading and optimization platform. The combined structure is designed to streamline project delivery while aligning development with market participation strategies.
The 200 MW facility will be located in areas with network constraints and high imbalance costs. The projects are designed to participate in balancing and ancillary service markets to address supply and demand fluctuations.
Ingrid has developed a portfolio of more than 450 MW / 650 MWh of BESS capacity across the Nordics and has raised more than EUR 300 million (approximately USD 325 million) in capital. Its portfolio includes Finland’s largest battery storage facility with a capacity of 70 MW / 140 MWh and one of the largest in Sweden, at 100 MW / 200 MWh. In addition to BESS development and optimization, Ingrid provides structured energy supply and offtake solutions as well as grid services tailored to evolving market frameworks.
The partnership with Wattmen marks Ingrid’s first collaboration in France and forms part of its broader continental European expansion. The company has also announced its first partnership in Germany, reflecting a strategy to extend its grid-tech and storage model beyond the Nordic region.
For Wattmen, the collaboration introduces access to Ingrid’s financing structure and optimization platform, aimed at improving time-to-market and aligning technical development with revenue optimization strategies. The agreement positions both companies to deploy battery storage assets that respond to regional grid conditions and market signals, with construction timelines aligned to the 2026–2027 window.
Axel Holmberg, CEO of Ingrid, said the partnership marks the company’s entry into the French market and supports cross-border grid infrastructure and flexibility deployment across Europe.
