Enery, a European independent renewable power producer, has started construction of the Ogrezeni hybrid project in Giurgiu County, Romania, combining 761 MWp / 534 MW AC of solar capacity with more than 1 GWh of battery storage. The project represents one of the largest hybrid projects in Europe.
Construction is scheduled to begin in the first quarter of 2026, with energization planned for summer 2027. The project adds large-scale, price-stable renewable generation capacity to Romania’s power system. It forms part of Enery’s Romanian portfolio and aligns with national decarbonization and energy security objectives.
The Ogrezeni project is supported by a €460 million project finance loan agreement signed on 24 December 2025 with a syndicate of eight commercial banks coordinated by UniCredit. The project is supported by Enery’s partnership with the Three Seas Initiative Investment Fund (3SIIF), a commercial infrastructure fund investing in energy, transport, and digital assets across EU member states in Central and Eastern Europe, including the region between the Baltic, Adriatic, and Black Seas.
Enery has selected Romania-based ENEVO Group as the main EPC contractor for the PV plant and associated grid connection works. Core engineering activities, a substantial portion of the EPC workforce, and key materials are being sourced locally, contributing to domestic supply-chain participation and execution efficiency.
Once operational, the Ogrezeni hybrid plant is expected to supply electricity for around 684,000 households annually and reduce CO2 emissions by around 303,000 tonnes annually. During construction, around 350 people are expected to work on the project and generate additional demand for local services. Operations and maintenance will be handled by Enery’s in-house teams together with Romanian service providers, supporting permanent local jobs and ongoing regional economic activity.
According to the company, it plans to implement additional community projects near Ogrezeni based on environmental and social priorities. Across its Romanian portfolio, the company has previously delivered community PV systems, biodiversity measures, reforestation initiatives, and education activities reaching more than 1,000 students.
Richard König and Lukas Nemec, Enery’s co-founders, said the Ogrezeni project advances the company’s large-scale renewable development approach with local participation, supporting power supply, employment, and community initiatives in Romania.
Edward Randolph, Enery Investment Board member representing 3SIIF and Investment Director at Amber Infrastructure, said the project is set to contribute to regional energy security.
Alexandra Bocse, Romanian Investment and Development Bank, said that Romania remains an active participant in the Three Seas Initiative Investment Fund supporting domestic energy infrastructure investments.
Liviu Gavrila, Country Manager Romania at Enery, said the Ogrezeni project has been structured with strong local participation, involving Romanian engineering, construction, and service providers, while supplying electricity that supports national decarbonization targets and generates tax revenues and economic activity for surrounding communities.
Gerhard Matzinger, CEO of RP Global, said Enery, co-founded by Richard König, Lukas Nemec, and RP Global, has expanded its operations since its establishment and that RPG Capital will continue its involvement as the company begins construction of one of Europe’s largest renewable projects.
Cristian Pîrvulescu, CEO of ENEVO Group, said the company’s selection as EPC contractor for the Ogrezeni project marks an important step for ENEVO Group and involves a Romanian provider in the delivery and grid integration of what is expected to be the country’s largest PV plant.
