HiTHIUM has introduced a lithium–sodium full-duration energy storage portfolio tailored for AI data center (AIDC) applications at its third Eco-Day event. The offering addresses the widening gap between rapid AI-driven electricity demand growth and slower power infrastructure development. By combining long-duration lithium-ion storage with high-rate sodium-ion batteries, the solution supports sustained energy delivery alongside millisecond-level load response, improving grid stability, on-site power performance, and deployment timelines for AI data centers.

China-based HITHIUM has introduced a lithium-sodium full-duration energy storage portfolio for AI data center (AIDC) applications at its third Eco-Day event. The launch addresses the widening gap between rapidly increasing AI-driven electricity demand and slower power infrastructure expansion timelines.

The portfolio includes the Power 6.25 MWh (4 h), Power 6.9 MWh (8 h), Power N 2.28 MWh (1 h), and Power 6.25 MWh (2 h) systems. These configurations combine long-duration lithium-ion battery energy storage with high-rate sodium-ion systems to support both sustained energy delivery and fast power response.

AI data centers experience electricity demand growth along with sharp load variations occurring within milliseconds, which place pressure on grid stability and on-site power systems. Long-duration storage supports continuous capacity requirements while helping manage short-term variability. The solution combines long-duration energy storage with renewable generation to shorten power infrastructure buildout timelines to around one to two years. Eight-hour storage systems enable energy shifting, electricity cost control, frequency regulation, and backup power for AI data center operations.

At the grid and load interface, high-rate sodium-ion batteries manage millisecond-level load fluctuations, while lithium-based systems provide multi-hour energy support. The portfolio is compatible with existing data center power architectures and high-voltage DC systems, enabling coordinated operation across the energy source, grid, and load.

Dr. Nazar Yi, Board Member and Vice President of HITHIUM, stated that addressing these constraints requires energy systems capable of faster deployment and lower-emission operation. HiTHIUM's Power Solutions are structured around long-duration storage at the energy source level and a lithium-sodium configuration at the load level.
