Energy developer BeGreen and energy trader Danske Commodities have expanded their existing partnership through an optimisation agreement covering the Ingerslev Å co-located solar and battery energy storage project in Denmark.
Located in Norddjurs Municipality within Denmark’s DK1 price area, Ingerslev Å combines a 48 MW solar park with a planned 20 MW/40 MWh battery energy storage system. The solar facility has been operational since June 2025, while the BESS will now be integrated directly within the existing solar park.
According to the companies, the combined project is capable of supplying electricity equivalent to the consumption of approximately 20,000 households, representing about 54% of households in the municipality. Integrating battery storage is intended to improve how electricity generated by the solar facility is used and traded.
The BESS will allow excess electricity generated during periods of high solar production to be stored for later dispatch. Stored energy can subsequently be supplied during periods of stronger electricity demand and higher market prices, improving the utilisation of renewable generation from the site.
Danske Commodities already serves as the balance responsible party for the Ingerslev Å Solar Park. Under the expanded partnership, the company will also optimise the co-located battery and act as its balancing service provider.
The optimisation strategy will cover both wholesale electricity markets and ancillary services markets. This approach is intended to create additional revenue opportunities from the battery while providing flexibility to Denmark’s power system.
BeGreen Chief Commercial Officer Mathias Vedsted Therkildsen said adding battery optimisation represents a further step in the companies’ partnership and will enable more effective use of electricity generated by the solar facility.

The agreement expands the commercial framework around Ingerslev Å from solar generation into integrated solar and storage optimisation, allowing generation and stored electricity to respond more flexibly to market conditions.
