JA Solar’s battery arm, JA ESS, has expanded its hardware lineup with a new commercial system called JAPlanet Fusion. This unit mixes solar management and battery storage into one package built for businesses and factories. Delivering 125 kW of power alongside a 261-kWh capacity footprint, the hardware specifically addresses heavy-use environments, scaling easily across manufacturing plants, office parks, corporate buildings, public facilities and EV charging hubs.
Right now, businesses are rushing to connect on-site solar directly to battery storage setups. Shifting over to integrated setups handles three problems at once: it drives down heavy power bills, ensures green energy isn't wasted and serves as an emergency insurance policy during unexpected grid blackouts. JAPlanet Fusion enters a market where demand for integrated energy systems continues to expand.
The system uses a DC-coupled design optimized for commercial and industrial sites that consume a large share of the solar power they generate. It supports up to 250 kW of PV input and combines solar generation, battery storage, energy conversion and energy management into one platform. The hardware can operate in tandem with the local grid or completely independently when needed.
According to JA ESS, the integrated design eliminates the need for a separate PV inverter, simplifying system configuration and installation requirements. This approach improves real-time coordination between solar generation, battery storage, load demand and grid interaction while drastically reducing overall system complexity.
The hardware supports a wide range of operational scenarios, including solar self-consumption, backup power supply, microgrids and solar-storage-charging applications. For businesses operating under variable electricity tariffs and fluctuating demand profiles, the platform enables higher solar self-consumption rates, flexible energy scheduling and improved power reliability.
JA ESS built the product with a system-level safety architecture covering battery storage, power conversion equipment and energy management functions. Monitoring and protection systems are integrated across the entire platform to secure operational safety and long-term reliability.
To support digital asset management, JAPlanet Fusion connects directly to JA Nebula, the company’s energy management platform. The cloud platform provides functions such as AI-assisted monitoring, operational data collection, intelligent alerts, remote diagnostics and predictive maintenance management. These capabilities improve system visibility and streamline lifecycle asset management for project operators.
Alongside JAPlanet Fusion, JA ESS also unveiled its upgraded JAPlanet 2.0 all-in-one C&I battery energy storage system. The company noted that the expanded product portfolio addresses utility applications including peak shaving, demand management, backup power, dynamic capacity expansion and microgrid deployment.
The launch forms part of JA ESS’s "Solar + Storage + X" framework, which integrates solar generation, battery storage, charging infrastructure, load management and digital energy services across industrial and commercial facilities, microgrids, agricultural projects, mining operations and off-grid energy systems.
