Wärtsilä, a Finland-based technology company supplies the Quantum2 battery energy storage system for the project.This marks Peregrine Energy Solutions second utility-scale deployment of Wärtsilä technology, following the 150 MW300 MWh Wizard Energy Storage project under construction in League City, Texas. Hagen Lee, CEO of Peregrine Energy Solutions, said that the Mallard project involves collaboration with Wärtsilä for battery technology and WHC Energy Services for construction delivery. He added that the project involves utility-scale battery storage designed to operate within the ERCOT grid.

Tamara de Gruyter, President of Wärtsilä Energy Storage said that Wärtsilä is supplying the battery energy storage technology for the Mallard project and highlighted the role of partnerships in delivering large-scale energy storage systems.

Randel Badeaux, Senior Vice President of the Power Sector at WHC Energy Services said that WHC is providing engineering and construction services for the project and is supporting the delivery of the facility in Texas.
