Linxon, a global engineering and energy infrastructure company, and Energy Transition Capital (ETC) have signed a partnership agreement to advance a portfolio of utility-scale battery energy storage systems (BESS) and co-located agrivoltaic generation projects across ten locations in Puerto Rico.
The portfolio represents approximately 200 MW of effective generation capacity and has the ability to dispatch up to 599 MW of capacity during peak load events. Linxon and ETC said the portfolio is intended to support Puerto Rico as it addresses its ongoing energy emergency.
The fully dispatchable portfolio combines BESS with co-located agrivoltaic generation, high-voltage interconnection infrastructure and grid-stabilizing capabilities. According to the companies, these resources are intended to provide reliable and dispatchable power, improve grid stability and strengthen Puerto Rico's long-term energy security.
The agrivoltaic design also seeks to preserve agricultural land while promoting the expansion of agricultural activity enabled by energy generation. The companies linked this approach to Puerto Rico's objectives for strengthening food security and revitalizing its agricultural economy.
Under the partnership, Linxon and ETC will collaborate across project development, engineering, commercial structuring and execution planning. The arrangement combines ETC's affiliated Puerto Rico-based development platform and Coquí Power's project development experience, local market knowledge and Puerto Rico-based capabilities with Linxon's engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning expertise.
The partnership is intended to accelerate project readiness by bringing together development, engineering, procurement, constructability, supply-chain and execution capabilities. The companies plan to apply these capabilities from the early stages of the project lifecycle through construction completion and commercial operations.
Linxon and ETC said the collaboration supports Puerto Rico's energy transformation while encouraging local investment, job creation, infrastructure development and long-term economic growth.
The companies said they intend to advance projects capable of providing reliable, affordable and secure energy as Puerto Rico continues to modernize and strengthen its electric system. The portfolio is also intended to support the island's broader energy and economic-development objectives.
